Logosys boosts speed and accuracy thanks to voice-activated order picking
Logosys delivers specialist logistics services for the pharmaceutical industry. The company’s distribution centre conducts around 12 000 picking movements of more than 5000 different articles daily ranging from prescription drugs to dialysis fluids in special packaging requiring very careful handling. Having already upgraded to RF data terminals for paperless order picking and replenishment, Logosys were looking to improve productivity and accuracy even further to boost its competitive advantage in this highly demanding segment.
A smooth, fluent process
Logosys’ existing Warehouse Management System (WMS) already controlled all processes from goods receipt to order processing, automatic replenishment and expedition. To minimise its already low error rate of 0.5% even further, Logosys considered a range of options including RF terminals and pick-by-light solutions. After careful consideration, Logosys opted for Zetes’ voice solution running on Vocollect’s Talkman terminals.
Fast, accurate, hands-free operation
Zetes’ innovative solution enables order pickers to communicate with the WMS online using natural language. All order instructions are received via the headset and confirmed with a simple control number spoken through the integrated microphone. The system has produced some startling results for Logosys:
